System consulting and IoT

Companies looking to address the challenges of developing end-to-end solutions in the Internet of Things (IoT) are increasingly becoming system integrators as partners to implement these solutions. In fact, ABI Research predicts that IoT systems integration and consulting revenue will grow beyond $ 35.7 billion in 2022 from just $ 17 billion in 2017. That translates into a growth rate compounded by 16.1%.

Systems integration specialists address the challenges posed by IoT because of their vast experience in integrating legacy systems into end-to-end solutions, their knowledge of the IoT landscape and their existing relationships with enterprises and end users.

“The primary responsibility of a systems integrator is to bridge the gap between solution providers and specific vertical markets. As such, they have a deep understanding not only of the weaknesses and problems of the company, but also of the specific applications and the business as a whole, “says Ryan Harbison, research analyst at ABI Research.

Indeed, system integrators are becoming essential partners in many IoT ecosystems because of their expertise in integrating IoT solutions into specific vertical markets and regions. These range from global system integrators and consultants such as Accenture, Deloitte and PwC to IT service system integrators like IBM and HPE.

Technological service providers, such as Altimetrik and Leverege, also provide value to their customers by offering extensive knowledge and experience in certain vertical market segments.

According to Harbison, “end users are less concerned about the characteristics of a device or software platform and more about how their IoT solutions work as a whole to become a systems system.” He adds: “Companies looking to develop IoT solutions and can not get in touch with hardware or software vendors, instead rely on the advice of a system integrator to navigate the market and find components that offer a complete solution. In the future, it is crucial for software and hardware providers to develop deep relationships with system integrators who provide specific vertical solutions for end users.” concludes the manager.
